About the role

The PreOp/Admitting Registered Nurse at TeamMD at Millburn center plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered care during the preoperative phase of surgical procedures. This nurse conducts thorough preoperative assessments, verifies surgical consents, reviews patient medical histories, and coordinates with surgical teams to optimize patient readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Uses equipment effectively following manufacturer’s instructions for use.
  • Uses proper techniques and procedures according to accepted standards of practice.
  • Assists with inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the admission area.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness of the PreOp/Admitting area.
  • Provides safe, patient-centered preoperative nursing care, including assessment, care planning, medication administration, monitoring, documentation, and patient education.
  • Ensures patient safety, privacy, dignity, and comfort while verifying patient identity, procedure details, discharge readiness, and understanding of instructions.
  • Collaborates effectively with physicians and the healthcare team to support continuity of care and efficient pre-anesthesia/pre-procedure workflows.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and well-stocked clinical environment, including equipment use, inventory management, and adherence to policies and safety standards.
  • Demonstrates effective time management, participates in required education, assists with patient transport and unit operations, and performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Active RN license in New Jersey.
  • Current BLS, CLS & PALS Certification.
  • 1-2 years of operating room experience with orthopedic procedures.
  • Proficient in patient assessment, IV therapy, medication administration, and patient education.
  • Knowledge of ambulatory surgery and pre-anesthesia care processes.
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.

Pay

$50.00 - $65.00 / hour
