Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for a 13-week travel assignment. The PICU provides specialized care for patients across multiple pediatric specialties, including medical, surgical, trauma, orthopedic, cardiac, neurological, and pulmonary conditions. The unit also serves as a designated pediatric liver, kidney, and bone marrow transplant center, caring for patients with congenital and complex multi-organ conditions requiring advanced critical care interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients with complex medical and surgical conditions.
  • Perform ongoing patient assessments and develop, implement, evaluate, and update individualized plans of care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to organizational policies and professional nursing standards.
  • Monitor and care for mechanically ventilated and intubated pediatric patients.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Safely delegate patient care responsibilities based on patient acuity, staff competency, and available resources.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery.
  • Serve as a mentor and preceptor while supporting professional nursing practice and quality improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nursing experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent travel RN experience.
  • Experience providing care in a Level I Trauma setting.
  • Experience caring for intubated and mechanically ventilated pediatric patients.
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and patient care coordination skills.

Assignment Details

  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week
  • Shift: Rotating Days/Nights (7:00 AM-7:30 PM and 7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
  • Every third weekend required.
  • Floating to other units as needed based on staffing requirements.

Additional Requirements

  • Successful completion of an ECG examination during orientation is required.
  • Candidates must pass the exam to remain eligible for the assignment.
