Registered Nurse RN Patient Placement

About the role

Collaborates and demonstrates teamwork in managing patient flow, promoting timely patient placement by following hospital policy for admission, discharge, and transfer. Performs screening of patients by diagnosis according to utilization guidelines provided by the PRO prior to admission to appropriately assign bed assignments. Relays bed assignments to department personnel/receiving nursing units at the time of patient’s admission and verifies that patients with same or like names are not placed in the same room. Prioritizes admissions/transfers based on acuity, services needed by the patient, and federal regulatory requirements. Communicates courteously with internal and external customers in person or on the telephone. Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the delivery of nursing services.

Requirements

  • Must possess the knowledge in medical and allied health services necessary to utilize screening criteria measured against the documented medical record.
  • Must be knowledgeable about medical terminology, levels of care, treatment modalities, and the health care delivery system with demonstrated ability to abstract medical information and interpret patient records.
  • Requires good interpersonal skills with ability to relate well with administration, physicians, patients, and other hospital employees.
  • Education: Associate's of Nursing [Required] Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
  • Work Experience: 1+ years clinical experience [Required]

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Preferred]
