About the Role
The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who is educated in the art and science of nursing, with the goal of assisting patients attain, maintain, and restore health when possible. The registered nurse provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, Accreditation Standards, CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care utilizing the Nursing Process.
- Adhere to the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
- Follow Accreditation Standards, CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.
- Supervise LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and Unit Technicians.
Requirements
- Graduate from NLN School of Nursing.
- Current unrestricted Mississippi State licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- All RNs are required to complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
- Specialty certifications required for specific areas (must be obtained within 12–18 months of starting in the specialty):
- Cath Lab – ACLS
- Cardiac Rehab – ACLS
- Congestive Heart Failure – ACLS
- Cardiovascular Surgery – ACLS
- Emergency Department – ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- Intensive Care Units – ACLS
- Labor & Delivery – ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation)
- Medical Nursing – OB/GYN – PALS
- Nursery – NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation)
- Pediatrics – PALS
- PACU/Recovery – ACLS, PALS
- De-escalation training must be completed by the end of position orientation (90 days).
- A minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience, preferred (must be within the past five years or evidence of successful refresher program).

Physical Demands
- Moderately active work: frequent movement within the office and facility, occasional travel within the SRHS service area.
- Frequent exertion of negligible force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, including the human body.
- Exposure to body fluids, sputum, and tissues, which may carry infectious disease hazards.
- Repetitive motions: substantial movements of wrists, hands, and/or fingers (e.g., typing, operating equipment).
- Ability to perceive sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
- Close visual acuity and ability to adjust focus (e.g., shifting from computer monitor to printed material).
- Ability to remain active for extended periods without undue fatigue.
- Flexibility to work assigned schedules, including off days, shifts, or weekends as needed by the hospital.
Schedule
- Shift: 7PM–7AM and/or 7AM–7PM
