Responsible for

• Provides professional nursing care to patients and families
• Communicates with physicians and other healthcare team members
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments
• Coordinates patient care activities
• Assists providers during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing
• Observes, records, and reports patient conditions and reactions to treatments
• Schedules appointments and prioritizes patients in emergency situations
• Greets patients and prepares them for physical examinations
• Conducts nursing assessments and screens patients
• Documents patient information in charts
• Instructs patients on sample collection and test preparation
• Responds to patient phone calls with appropriate input from the physician
• Educates patients and families about diagnostic processes, medications, nutrition, and wellness
• Suggests solutions to patient care crises and complaints
• Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials
• Ensures exam rooms are clean
• Prepares lists of medical supplies needed
• Labels pathology specimens according to lab protocols
• Performs quality control and maintains records on lab testing

Essential Qualifications

• Must be able to work the specified hours
• Must have visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
• Must be able to communicate effectively with others
• Must have the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience

• Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing
• Active license in the state of practice
