Responsible for
- Provides professional nursing care to patients and families
- Communicates with physicians and other healthcare team members
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments
- Coordinates patient care activities
- Assists providers during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing
- Observes, records, and reports patient conditions and reactions to treatments
- Schedules appointments and prioritizes patients in emergency situations
- Greets patients and prepares them for physical examinations
- Conducts nursing assessments and screens patients
- Documents patient information in charts
- Instructs patients on sample collection and test preparation
- Responds to patient phone calls with appropriate input from the physician
- Educates patients and families about diagnostic processes, medications, nutrition, and wellness
- Suggests solutions to patient care crises and complaints
- Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials
- Ensures exam rooms are clean
- Prepares lists of medical supplies needed
- Labels pathology specimens according to lab protocols
- Performs quality control and maintains records on lab testing
Essential Qualifications
- Must be able to work the specified hours
- Must have visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
- Must be able to communicate effectively with others
- Must have the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing
- Active license in the state of practice
