Location: Avera Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery – Day Shift (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; 80 hours per 2 weeks)

Position Highlights

  • LPN pay range: $24.50 – $33.75 per hour
  • RN pay range: $29.00 – $43.25 per hour
  • Eligible for Avera’s Student Loan Repayment Program: up to $10,000 ($167 monthly extra payment toward principal)

About the Role

Functions as an extension of the manager/supervisor to facilitate efficient and effective operation of the assigned area. The Lead utilizes independent and interdependent judgement and is expected to serve as a resource to staff, physicians, and clinic leadership. Responsible for general oversight of the assigned group and, in addition, utilizes technical and customer-service aptitudes for day-to-day patient services. Performs all essential functions/duties of the Clinic RN position as well as the additional lead duties.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and resolves facility problems or patient concerns in a timely manner.
  • Acts as a resource to staff for problem resolution, training, and disseminates information as requested by leadership.
  • Collaborates with the Supervisor/Manager to develop and implement orientation and education plans.
  • Trains new staff and provides remedial training for existing staff; coaches and gives feedback to staff and leadership.
  • Provides input to the Supervisor/Manager related to staff appraisals, interviewing, and hiring.
  • Assists in patient care as directed by the provider and coordinates patient-care activities for the clinic.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to other providers per physician instructions.
  • Documents all patient procedures accurately, completely, legibly, and in a timely manner.
  • Greets patients, conducts clinical interviews, and assesses a variety of patient needs.
  • Provides open and timely communication with patients, families, and significant others, ensuring they have sufficient information to participate in care.
  • Reports test results to patients per physician instructions.
  • Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and cleanliness.
  • Assists in greeting, registering, and scheduling patients; answers phones promptly and routes messages appropriately.
  • Keeps patients informed of physician schedules (e.g., delays) and maintains patient flow.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (upon hire).
  • Ability to work the specified hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; 80 hours per 2 weeks).
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
