Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) | Ear Nose Throat Head and Neck Clinic

Position Highlights

• Head and Neck Cancer clinic working with Dr. Spanos and Head and Neck navigators
• RN may be eligible for up to a $20,000 sign on bonus
• LPN may be eligible for a $6,000 sign on bonus
• RN: $27.75–$41.25 per hour; LPN: $22.50–$31.50 per hour
• Student Loan Repayment: This RN position may be eligible for Avera’s Student Loan Repayment Program, which helps you pay off your loans and save money. Each month an extra payment of $167 (up to $10,000) from Avera will help pay down your principal balance faster.
• Option for five 8‑hour shifts or four 10‑hour shifts

Job Summary

Responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients and families. Communicates with physicians as well as other healthcare team members to provide excellent patient care.

What You Will Do

• Performs general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
• Coordinates the patient care activities for the clinic.
• Prepares equipment and assists provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing of patients.
• Observes, records, and reports patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider.
• Oversees appointment scheduling and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations.
• Maintains timely flow of patients. Greets patients and prepares them for physical examination.
• Screens patients for appropriate information including obtaining the health history, and taking vitals. Documents obtained information in patient chart.
• Instructs patient in collection of samples and tests.
• Responds to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician.
• Educates patients and families about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.
• Suggests solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints.
• Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed.
• Assures appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocol as needed. Performs quality control and maintains records on all lab testing.

Required Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – active license in the state of practice, upon hire
• Ability to work the hours specified
• Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
• Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds
