About the role
The Banner Gateway Medical Surgical Unit specializes in oncology care, providing comprehensive treatment options including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, symptom management, palliative care, clinical trials, and stem cell care. The unit is affiliated with MD Anderson Cancer Center and offers a supportive therapeutic relationship with patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing standards.
- Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and ensures completion within appropriate timeframe.
- Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to physicians and other caregivers.
- Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, using assessment data and patient/family input.
- Delegates appropriately and supervises the activities of the health care team.
- Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members.
- Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record.
- Maintains clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work.
Requirements
- Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
- BLS certification.
- One year experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferably in oncology.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Professional certification preferred.

- Flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential.
Pay

Schedule
- Part-time position: 2 12-hour shifts, 7PM-7:30AM.
- Nights and day shifts available.
- Utilizes self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage.
