Job Description
Overview
- Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Responsibilities
- Implements and monitors patient care plans.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
- Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
- Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
- Performs initial, re-assessment, and focused assessments based on patient condition, setting, and population.
- Identifies problems and develops measurable and achievable short- and long-range goals in collaboration with the patient and family.
- Establishes daily goals with the patient and family.
- Formulates a plan of care.
- Transitions or discharges patients effectively.
- Ensures patient safety.
- Administers medications accurately.
- Provides ordered treatments.
- Educates patients and families.
- Documents care in the patient’s record.
Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:
- License Required: Valid current Arizona Nursing License or compact state license and ability to become Arizona Licensed in 30 days.
- Certification Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Certification Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or others as required by individual department.
- Educational Background:
- Required: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- PREFERRED: Bachelors of Science in Nursing
