Description
The level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Saint Francis Hospital consists of 28 beds. Preterm and term neonates requiring additional medical and surgical management and highly specialized care are admitted to the unit.
What You Will Do
- Attend births and provide care for infants with medical complications directly after birth
- Maintain monitoring of the health of infants suffering from medical issues, such as prematurity or congenital defects
- Provide education to new parents on the care of their infant, including basic infant care, breastfeeding, and safety
- Contribute to the overall quality of nursing care through performance improvement techniques that positively impact patient care
- Communicate effectively (both written and verbal) with administration, colleagues, patients, and family members
- Demonstrate problem-solving, conflict resolution, and positive communication through teamwork
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Connecticut
- BLS CPR certification, ACLS preferred
- At least 2 years of NICU experience required for per diem position
