The Trinitas Department of Behavioral Health and Psychiatry, part of Trinitas Regional Medical Center and an RWJBarnabas Health facility, offers comprehensive treatments for daily stress, aging challenges, child development, and chemical dependency. With specialized care for adults, children, adolescents, and families, including provisions for mentally ill/developmentally-disabled individuals in a 98-bed inpatient facility, the department serves individuals from Union County and across New Jersey. Providing over 200,000 outpatient visits annually, services range from Mobile Crisis Units to Inpatient and Outpatient care, staffed by a diverse, multidisciplinary team of practitioners, including bilingual staff.

About the role

The Mental Health Unit - Open Unit provides comprehensive inpatient psychiatric and behavioral care for adults in an open unit setting designed for patients who can safely participate in a less restrictive therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards, ensuring awareness of ethical standards as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
  • Assures safety in practice, including reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors.
  • Knows the patient population served and supervises and directs the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members.
  • Collaborates with other patient care providers and consistently sets and evaluates priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of care and individualizes the plan of care to address specific patient needs.
  • Acts as an individual practitioner and interdisciplinary team manager.

Requirements

  • ASN or Nursing Diploma
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • AHA BLS certification upon hire
  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License

Qualifications

  • Med./Surg. Telemetry and/or ER nursing experience (preferred)
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health certifications and/or national nursing certifications (preferred)

Pay

$48.29 - $65.06 per hour

The compensation offered will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.

Schedule

  • Full Time
  • Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
  • Monday – Friday, every other weekend, and holiday rotation
