Registered Nurse (RN)-Medical Oncology
About the Role
This full-time, day-shift RN II position is located at St. Peter's Hospital within the Cancer Care group. We offer a Monday–Friday schedule and opportunities for career advancement, including a strong orientation program and generous tuition allowance.
Responsibilities
- Bring patients to exam rooms, take vital signs, and document in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Review and update medication lists to ensure accuracy and completeness in the EMR for provider review.
- Complete and track patient referrals, ensuring compliance.
- Review and electronically send prescriptions to providers for review and submission.
- Obtain patient consent for procedures as directed by the provider.
- Perform pre-visit planning and review quality metrics.
- Retrieve telephonic clinical information from patients calling into the office.
- Monitor and complete provider-assigned tasks in a timely manner based on urgency.
- Educate patients on medications, testing procedures, and home care techniques.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and documentation of patient specimens.
- Follow up with patients regarding test results as advised by the provider.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including disinfecting patient care areas and equipment.
- Maintain medical and drug supply cabinets in conjunction with nursing colleagues.
- Use the EMR to communicate effectively and perform quality assurance duties as assigned.
- Provide patients with a clinical visit summary (Patient Plan) and educational materials as requested.
- Participate in daily patient care huddles as appropriate.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure quality patient care at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BSN required.
- Current unencumbered NYS RN license.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Minimum of 6 months of previous RN experience.
- Ability to lift 20 lbs.
Pay
Pay range: $41.25–$52.77 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The range may vary based on location.
