Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical ICU - FT Nights
About the role
The Medical ICU (MICU) at Carolinas Medical Center is a 29-bed unit that cares for a diverse, high-acuity patient population, including those with ARDS, septic shock, liver failure, multi-organ failure, respiratory failure, gastrointestinal bleeds, complex oncology needs, renal failure, sickle cell crises, diabetic ketoacidosis, and post cardiac arrest care. Our team is actively involved in advanced critical care practice, including assisting with intubations and bedside procedures, titrating multiple vasoactive drips, providing comfort-focused care, coordinating off-unit procedures, and managing life support therapies such as ECMO. We collaborate closely with a wide range of specialty consult services to deliver comprehensive care.
Beyond bedside care, we emphasize teamwork and innovation, continuously seeking ways to improve patient outcomes, safety, and quality of care. The Medical ICU fosters a culture of accountability, respect, and professionalism, where team members support one another and uphold the highest standards of practice. We also received the AACN Beacon award of Excellence.
