About the Role

This role is considered the minimum role for all nurses who have greater than 12 months of experience. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides and coordinates independent care to patients within the Med Surg Telemetry unit as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team. The position is full-time, night shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) and offers a $15,000 sign-on bonus with restrictions that may apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate independent care to patients within a clinical specialty, utilizing the institution’s care delivery and professional practice models.
• Serve as a clinical resource for others, applying and integrating evidence into practice.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care, advocating for patient and family needs.
• Model practice consistent with unit operations to ensure safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and patient-centered care.
• Engage in advancing own practice and maintain competencies required for the patient care setting.
• Serve as a trained preceptor and coach for new nurses and students.
• Contribute to developing and evaluating unit-based orientation and other education activities.
• Contribute to nursing support personnel skills and development.
• Complete continuing education (CE) requirements annually based on facility minimums.
• Understand and contribute to unit-based outcomes associated with National Hospital Quality Measures (NDNQI), Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators, and the Facility Annual Operational Plan.
• Provide high-quality, safe, patient-centered care with a focus on exceeding service expectations.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and participate in tracer activities when requested.
• Take action to correct observed risks to patient safety and report adverse events and near misses.
• Implement policies, procedures, and guidelines consistently in the performance of assigned duties.
• Develop effective working relationships and maintain good communication with team members.
• Identify possible risks in processes, procedures, or devices and communicate them to the appropriate personnel.
• Participate in hospital, departmental, and unit patient safety initiatives.
• Demonstrate the ability to function in the charge nurse role.
• Participate in team-building efforts and contribute to briefings and staff meetings regularly.
• Contribute to and participate in unit, Nursing Division, and organizational governance structures.
• Participate in recruitment and retention activities at the unit level.
• Provide feedback in peer review as requested and deliver direct performance feedback at the direction of the nurse manager.

Requirements

• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing.
• More than 12 months of nursing experience with solid knowledge and clinical skills.
• Current AHA BLS certification.
• Must meet all unit-specific certification requirements: Basic Arrhythmia Recognition and NIHSS certification.

Pay

Pay Range: $37.75 - $54.05 per hour.

Other compensation includes a $15,000 sign-on bonus (restrictions may apply).
