Provides inpatient nursing care to patients in compliance with the SC Nurse Practice Act and organization protocols, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Demonstrates clinical competency utilizing evidence-based practices and research in all areas of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes. Collaborates with leadership in developing and implementing the healthcare system's culture, Mission, Vision, and Values. Engages and supports community involvement.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved/accredited School of Nursing
- Current RN licensure in the State of South Carolina or Compact State
- BLS certification (may secure post-hire)
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to meet continuing education requirements and comply with regulatory agency standards (DNV, DHEC, CMS)
Preferred Requirements
- One year of recent RN experience within the past 5 years
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates competency utilizing electronic health records and documents all aspects of patient care
- Adheres to system standards of behavior, proper chain of command, and regulatory agency requirements
- Effectively communicates with patients, families, providers, and hospital associates
- Knowledgeable in use of and response to Facility Alert, Medical Alert, and Medical Emergency Systems
- Develops, implements, evaluates, and revises plan of care based on patient/family needs
- Provides a safe patient care environment
- Collaborates with healthcare team to determine patient priorities and treatments
- Coordinates, provides, and directs patient teaching activities
- Initiates and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance outcomes
- Seeks assistance in completing nursing interventions to ensure positive patient outcomes
- Demonstrates competencies for new equipment, procedures, and annual competency validation
- Successfully completes hospital and unit-based orientation programs and annual competencies
- Formulates a plan for personal professional growth
- Recommends development or revision of policies and procedures
- Serves on unit-based committees as assigned
- Prioritizes nursing interventions for an assigned group of patients
- Critically assesses patients' medical history, diagnosis, and needs to determine care priorities
- Assesses and prioritizes multiple patients based on severity of illness or injury
- Provides quality patient care in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Professionally interacts with patients of all age groups, backgrounds, and educational levels, including those who may be confused, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative
- Utilizes Nursing standards and protocols to manage and stabilize emergencies until provider responds
- Demonstrates knowledge of professional nursing practice and theory
- Ensures continuity of care through effective decision-making
- Remains committed to unit, department, and division goals
- Supports patient experience initiatives
- Participates in purposeful rounding, bedside shift reports, and huddles
- Complies with current policies and procedures
