About the role
Join our team at Lakeland Rehab and Healthcare Center, a Skilled Nursing Facility, as a compassionate and enthusiastic Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for all shifts. You will provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants, ensuring the highest degree of quality care is maintained.
Responsibilities
- Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants and plan shift services, programs, and activities.
- Make written and oral reports concerning shift activities.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
- Provide leadership to nursing personnel assigned to your unit/shift.
- Complete and file required record-keeping forms/charts for resident admission, transfer, and discharge.
- Receive and transcribe telephone orders from physicians.
- Chart nurse’s notes reflecting care provided and resident responses.
- Fill out and complete accident/incident reports.
- Perform routine charting duties in accordance with established policies.
- Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician.
- Maintain good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel to meet resident needs.
- Create a warm, calm, and positive environment for residents and staff.
- Receive and give nursing reports at shift changes.
- Make rounds with physicians as necessary.
- Administer professional services such as catheterization, tube feedings, suction, wound care, colostomy care, and more.
- Monitor assigned personnel to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident care information, including protected health information.
- Ensure nursing care is provided in privacy and personnel knock before entering resident rooms.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current unencumbered state license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
- Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, procedures, and relevant laws and regulations.
- Current CPR Certification.
- Experience in Long Term Care is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress.
- Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
