Registered Nurse (RN) - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) - Nights

Norman Regional Hospital ICU is a 32-bed unit caring for a wide variety of critical patients with complex medical conditions, including respiratory failure, sepsis, renal failure, induced hypothermia, and prolonged intermittent renal replacement therapy. The ICU team collaborates with the dedicated stroke unit to provide award-winning advanced stroke care and maintains a fast pace to meet the needs of patients in acute phases of cardiac disease. Common cardiac procedures and diagnoses include post-open-heart surgery, severe decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, STEMI, aortic dissection, and acute severe valvular dysfunction. Daily responsibilities may include managing life-support systems such as ventilation, heart monitoring, and lifesaving medications.

The ICU RN demonstrates respect, empathy, and strong communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Comprehensive and inclusive training is provided for new graduate RNs, including a 12-week orientation with a designated preceptor.

Responsibilities

• Systematically assesses and reassesses the healthcare needs of individuals, appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions, involving patient, family, and other healthcare providers as needed.
• Analyzes assessments to determine nursing diagnoses and expected outcomes, involving patient, family, and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
• Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgment guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations, and policy.
• Evaluates patient outcomes utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence-based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts, and reach sound conclusions.
• Evaluates discharge needs related to the plan of care, utilizing resources as needed.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
• Previous experience in the healthcare field preferred.
• Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining required during orientation prior to providing patient care; must maintain BLS certification throughout employment.
• New graduates are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program.

Pay

$27.84–$45.46/hour depending on previous work experience. Additional differentials: $2.50/hour for evening shifts, $3.00/hour for night shifts, and $3.00/hour for weekend shifts.
