About the role
The Registered Nursing (RN) position at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is responsible for performing competent nursing care using the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. The RN must also demonstrate adherence to the standards of professional performance such as ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, and quality.
Responsibilities
- Perform assessments to identify patient needs and develop care plans accordingly.
- Diagnose patient problems and implement interventions based on identified needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and promote patient outcomes.
- Teach patients and their families about their health conditions and treatment plans.
- Evaluate patient progress towards achieving desired outcomes.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and other safety measures.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
Requirements
- Registered nursing license.
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- One year of RN experience.
- One year of infusion experience (strongly preferred).
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
