About the Role
This position is for an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care to critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and life-sustaining therapies. The nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, including intensivists, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists, to provide evidence-based care during critical moments.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
- Coordinate care with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure positive outcomes.
- Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, and document accurately using electronic health records.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, communicate effectively, delegate tasks, and supervise support staff.
- Support a culture of safety, quality improvement, and professional excellence.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Active, unrestricted NYS RN license.
- Valid BLS certification; additional unit-specific certifications (ACLS, PALS, Stroke) as required.
Skills
- Excellent clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to recognize emergencies, perform basic calculations, and understand healthcare quality measures.
