Job Overview/Summary

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join a High-Risk Cardiology unit. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to patients with complex cardiac conditions while working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The position supports professional growth through the BJC Registered Nurse Career Ladder, enabling nurses to practice at the top of their license while advancing their careers.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with high-risk and complex cardiac conditions.
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic status, and patient responses to treatment.
  • Administer medications, therapies, and interventions in accordance with physician orders and clinical protocols.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists, interdisciplinary teams, and support staff to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety efforts, and service excellence programs.
  • Practice in alignment with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.

Secondary Skills (Good To Have)

  • Experience in telemetry, ICU, or step-down units
  • Leadership and charge nurse experience
  • Patient and family education
  • Participation in shared governance or unit-based councils

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum experience as required for High-Risk Cardiology (experienced RNs preferred)
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred or required based on unit policy
  • Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills
