Registered Nurse (RN) Geriatric Psych
About the role
Position Purpose: At Johnson Memorial Hospital, the Registered Nurses (RN) in Geriatric Wellness unit specializes mental health care to elderly patients experiencing psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. This role involves direct patient care, emotional support, medication administration, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic and compassionate treatment.
Johnson Memorial Hospital and Home & Community Health Services provide a continuum of health care services to those living and working in north central Connecticut and western Massachusetts. The 92-bed hospital and home health and hospice agency have been anchor institutions in north central Connecticut for more than 100 years.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health assessments and monitor psychiatric symptoms in elderly patients.
- Work closely with all physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, and therapist to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school
- Valid RN License in Connecticut
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (preferred)
- One or more years of Psychiatric or Geriatric experience in an acute inpatient setting (ideal)
Skills
- BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
Schedule
- Part Time – 24 Hours/Day Shift
- Every Other Weekend/Holiday
