About the role

The Medical-Surgical Unit at Sentara Obici Hospital is a great place to learn and grow, supported by a longstanding leadership team and strong preceptors dedicated to mentoring new nurses. The Med Surg has 21 bed unit. A general med surg - sees all types of patients - great variety and you will see a good mix of patients. This unit offers a collaborative, supportive environment ideal for both new graduates and experienced nurses seeking to enhance their skillset. Unit coordinators are on staff, ensuring smooth operations and quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Assess, diagnose, outcomes identify, plan, implement, coordinate care-teaching and health promotion and evaluate patient care.
  • Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
  • Provide compassionate, respectful, and culturally sensitive care to all patients.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required).
  • Registered nursing License (Required).
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire.
