About the role

Works under the supervision of the Nurse manager and the Director and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients. The RN may work in a variety of settings in the Critical Care/Telemetry Complex and roles within Riverside Health System.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served in the Critical Care/Telemetry units/departments (see unit specific competencies and equipment checklists).
  • Partners with patients and families to develop, implement and evaluate plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient.
  • Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluates for patient comprehension and documents.
  • Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations and ability to modify education method to ensure patient/family comprehension.
  • Educates by assuming responsibility to individualize and coordinate patient education, and discharge specific education that includes family/caregiver.
  • Delegates and prioritizes tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met.
  • Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations.
  • Evaluates own needs for support and uses identified systems to meet need.
  • Focuses on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer’s needs to include current evidence based practice and quality measures.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
  • Critical care experience (Preferred)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
  • ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required within 90 day of start)
  • PALS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required within 180 day of start)

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
  • Experience: Critical care experience (Preferred)
  • Licenses and Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required), CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required), ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required within 90 day of start), PALS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required within 180 day of start)
