Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts (7A-7P and 7P-7A) options available
  • Full-Time
  • PRN
  • Weekend Only (Premium Pay) – Up to $44/hour Pay in Lieu of Benefits (PIB) – Up to $45/hour

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to adult and geriatric patients, specializing in safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective nursing care responsive to individual patient needs.
  • Formulate and follow a plan of care with attention to physical, psychosocial, educational, and discharge needs of the patient/family.
  • Perform admission assessments and document findings.
  • Initiate and modify individual plan of care and discharge planning on admission; participate in weekly patient care conferences for multi-disciplinary care.
  • Explain nursing interventions and provide education to patients and/or responsible persons according to their comprehension level; document appropriately.
  • Provide patient care discharge instructions consistent with comprehension levels and document on appropriate records.
  • Perform basic and specialized nursing skills, including but not limited to: management of ET tubes, ABGs/venipuncture, central line care, pressor drip monitoring, and 12-lead EKG.
  • Operate highly technical electronic life support equipment, including monitoring equipment, defibrillators, and ventilators.
  • Respond immediately to life-threatening situations and follow appropriate algorithms to sustain life.
  • Manage central venous catheters/PICC lines.
  • Provide rehabilitative care according to standards.
  • Analyze physical and/or psychological changes and implement appropriate interventions or notify appropriate personnel.
  • Complete patient care assignments.
  • Answer communication systems and telephones promptly; assist or refer to appropriate personnel.
  • Transcribe physician orders and complete hospital forms accurately.
  • Document administration of medications.
  • Explain nursing interventions to health team members through direct interactions.
  • Demonstrate or supervise procedures and treatments performed by staff or orientees; document appropriately.
  • Assist with record keeping and program development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license by the State of Alabama.
  • Minimum of two (2) years critical care nursing experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally, 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly.
  • Ability to walk and stand 80% of an 8 to 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 200 lbs. to position patients, move beds, carts, etc.
