Registered Nurse RN Emergency Department (Full Time/Nights)
About the role
Penn Medicine is dedicated to our tripartite mission of providing the highest level of care to patients, conducting innovative research, and educating future leaders in the field of medicine. Working for this leading academic medical center means collaboration with top clinical, technical and business professionals across all disciplines.
Schedule
Full Time (36 hours per week). Nights (7pm–7am). On-call requirements. Rotating weekends and holidays.
Work environment
Each day our Emergency Department treats 300 to 400 patients with chronic and acute issues, ruling out life threatening conditions and intervening when necessary to stop the progression of acute processes. The team sees everything from sore throats, ear infections, lacerations and broken bones to more serious conditions like stroke, heart attack, cardiac arrest, and traumatic injuries from motor vehicle and farming accidents, gunshot wounds and stabbings.
Lancaster General Hospital, a Level I–accredited Trauma Center, recently completed a major expansion and remodel of the ED that nearly doubled the size of the department, from 63 beds to 95 beds. This includes 10 beds in our updated and expanded behavioral health unit, and 13 dedicated pediatric beds.
