About the role

The Registered Nursing (RN) position at Sentara Leigh Hospital's Emergency Department is seeking candidates with a minimum of 1 year of emergency, intensive care, intermediate care, or med/surg nursing experience. New graduates are also welcome to apply. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a high-volume, fast-paced unit with over 40 beds and more than 100,000 patient visits annually.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care-teaching and health promotion and evaluation).
  • Maintain clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
  • Participate in the 20-week Transition to Practice program focusing on orientation, knowledge support, and skill acquisition for practice in the Emergency Department.
  • Care for patients across all acuity levels in multiple treatment areas.

Requirements

  • Registered nursing license (Required)
  • Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree (Preferred)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required within 90 days of hire)
  • ACLS and/or PALS certification (Required within 1 year of hire)

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year emergency, intensive care, intermediate care, or med/surg nursing experience preferred
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including multiple shifts
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays

Skills

  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of emergency department protocols and procedures

Pay

Up to $20,000 sign-on bonus for qualified applicants. Details available upon request.

Schedule

Full Time (36 hr/week), Day Shift and Night Shift openings!
