Registered Nurse (RN) Emergency Department
Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is a 34-bed emergency services facility recently renovated and expanded to serve adult and pediatric patients efficiently. Emergency medical care is provided by board-certified physicians from Virginia Emergency Medical Associates (VEMA).

About the role
This is a full-time night shift position (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) with five weekend shifts per 6-week period. Eligible for sign-on bonus and relocation assistance for qualified applicants.
Responsibilities
- Provide knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patient, family, nurse, and healthcare delivery team.
- Assist the team in caring for non-emergency patients, including support from experienced behavioral health nurses and the Overflow unit.
- Conduct all patient care in a patient- and family-centered manner.
- Use an integrated approach toward patient outcomes.
- Utilize standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery.
Requirements
- 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- For Critical Care units: 1 year of experience in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
- BSN or AD. If RN has an AD, within 2 years of hire, they must:
- Identify an accredited school for BSN completion.
- Provide a written plan with an anticipated BSN completion date.
- Submit a review of transcripts indicating required prerequisites and course timeline.
- Complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN license.
- BLS for Healthcare Provider certification through the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of ED experience strongly preferred.
- Proficient in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a caring demeanor.
- Proficient computer skills.
