Banner Ironwood Medical Center resides in the heart of San Tan Valley serving Queen Creek, Florence, San Tan Valley, and other neighboring communities. Since opening in 2010, the center has provided an excellent patient experience, combining hotel-like amenities with high-quality health care. Our 34-bed Emergency Department serves both adult and pediatric patients, staffed by ACEP board-certified physicians capable of managing complex and simple emergencies. Patients benefit from collaboration, innovation, and advanced technologies that support industry-leading care. We hold a Level IV Trauma Center designation from the State of Arizona and a Pediatric Prepared designation from the Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The facility also includes a new 12-bed Pediatric Inpatient Unit and Adult Critical Care Unit, designed to enhance outcomes, healing, and patient safety.

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department, you will be a vital member of the multi-professional care team, advancing the art and science of patient care, quality, and safety. This full-time mid-shift position involves working three 12-hour shifts per week from 12:00 PM to 12:30 AM, including weekend and holiday rotations. You will have the opportunity to utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage. The role offers an 18% night-shift differential and a flat rate of $3/hour weekend shift differential when applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
  • Review patient history and physical with patient/family, ensuring completion within appropriate timeframes.
  • Review diagnostics, laboratory data, and report abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
  • Complete assessments and reassessments according to patient needs and organizational policies.
  • Formulate and implement a plan of care, including discharge planning, utilizing assessment data and input from patients, families, and the health care team.
  • Set realistic, measurable goals in collaboration with patients and families, considering physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific, and educational needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to review and revise the plan of care based on changing patient needs.
  • Provide direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health care team activities in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote continuity of care through accurate and complete communication with other caregivers.
  • Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching, revising the plan of care as needed.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record, ensuring legibility, timeliness, and adherence to policy.
  • Provide care based on best evidence available and participate in research activities within clinical practice.
  • Participate in unit or facility shared leadership, education, role development, and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors.
  • Contribute to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
  • Interact with staff across departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts to support patient care.
  • Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support patient and family responses to changes in health status.

Requirements

  • Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for the current state of practice.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on the area of practice.
  • Experience in the clinical area for which you are applying is desired.
  • Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of work, demonstrated through annual validations.
  • For Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions: Minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area.
  • For Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions: Minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a physician practice or acute care setting.
  • For Home Health settings: Ability to operate a personal vehicle with a valid driver’s license and active auto insurance coverage.
  • For Behavioral Health clinical settings serving children: Possession of an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintained throughout employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
  • For BUMCS Behavioral Health clinical settings: Possession of an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • For Banner Home Care AZ: Possession of an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • For Banner Staffing (BSS) Behavioral Health roles in Arizona: Possession of a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintained throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Professional certification in a relevant specialty.
  • Additional related education and/or experience.
