Position Highlights
MWF, 5am–5pm; Tu/Th/Sat, 5am–3pm; every 3rd Saturday rotation

About the role
Provides care and treatment to patients on maintenance dialysis. Dialysis treatment is delivered within the scope of nursing practice. Home dialysis nurses provide major portions of self-care and home dialysis training for dialysis patients and/or their caregivers.
Responsibilities
- Performs and maintains knowledge and proficiency in technical skills for dialysis treatments.
- Provides oversight and delegation to department staff.
- Understands and ensures compliance related to water-room equipment operation and function.
- Complies with established departmental policies and procedures, scope of care, performance-improvement activities, safety, environmental and infection-control standards.
- Documents in the patient record according to departmental policy/procedure.
- Promotes and maintains documentation and an environment that is in compliance with state, federal, and regulatory agencies, including CMS/ESRD-Renal Network, and Quality Assurance and Process Improvement efforts.
- Coordinates care of patients in collaboration with Medical Director, Nephrologist, patients, families, other nursing staff, and all ancillary departments.
- Acts as a patient/family advocate.
- Collaborates with the patient, family, and health-care providers in providing patient care.
- Identifies patient/family learning needs.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates an educational plan for patients.
- Provides patient education related to the dialysis process and procedures, including care and management of dialysis accesses.
Requirements
- Must be able to work the hours specified.
- Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) – active license in the state of practice (required upon hire).
- Certified Hemodialysis Nurse (CHN) – Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT) (preferred upon hire).
- Certified Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse (CPDN) – Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT) (preferred upon hire).
- Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) – Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) (preferred upon hire).
- Specialty Certification – The American Society of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (ASHI) (preferred upon hire).
- 1–3 years nursing experience if functioning as a home dialysis nurse, plus an additional 3 months experience in each of the specific modalities (hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis) for which the nurse will provide self-care training.

Pay
$32.50 – $48.50 per hour (actual pay rate dependent upon experience).
Schedule
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 5am–5pm
- Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: 5am–3pm
- Every 3rd Saturday rotation
