Registered Nurse (RN) - Complex Medical

About the Role
Provide patient care according to the philosophy and standards of the Department of Nursing. Utilize clinical skills to integrate and implement the nursing process with the plan of care. Act as a clinical resource for patients, ensuring direction and support to meet team goals and patient-driven outcomes. Function within role expectations, delegate duties to other caregivers, and provide appropriate supervision.
Responsibilities
- Complete nursing assessments accurately and timely in accordance with practice standards.
- Develop and implement a plan of care reflecting patient needs and goals.
- Provide, evaluate, and modify nursing care to achieve goals and objectives.
- Complete patient care documentation per established standards.
- Administer medications safely according to professional standards and nursing policies.
- Transcribe or acknowledge doctors' orders and carry them out as directed.
- Coordinate nursing care activities with other care team members to facilitate patient goals.
- Assess patient education needs and provide education on disease processes, disabilities, medications, and discharge preparation to help patients and families develop self-care skills.
- Mentor and teach healthcare team members as needed.
- Actively participate in team conferences and meetings to achieve stated goals.
- Complete additional department, organization, or network activities per established objectives.

Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate is required.
- Graduate of an accredited College of Nursing.
- Current license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration as a Registered Nurse.
Skills
- Effective verbal, electronic, and written communication skills in English.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new software.
- Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills for working with a diverse population.

Physical Requirements
Work Environment:
- Exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), high places, confined spaces, risk of electrical shock, bloodborne pathogens, flammable/explosive gases, toxic/caustic chemicals, dust/irritants, grease/oils, hazardous specimens, lab animals, infectious/contagious diseases, cleaning agents/chemicals, hot equipment, noisy equipment, and humid/wet conditions.
Lifting/Carrying:
- Up to 10 pounds: 50-75% of the time (lift and carry).
- Up to 25 pounds: 25-50% of the time (lift and carry).
- Up to 50 pounds: 1-25% of the time (lift).
Push/Pull:
- Up to 10 pounds: 50-75% of the time (push and pull).
- Up to 25 pounds: 25-50% of the time (push and pull).
- Up to 50 pounds: 1-25% of the time (push and pull).
- Up to 100 pounds: 1-25% of the time (push and pull).
Physical Activity:
- Standing, walking, and using hands (fine motor skills) over 75% of the time.
- Sitting, moving/rotating/bending wrists, typing/keyboard use, reaching with hands/arms, climbing stairs, stooping/kneeling/crouching/bending/crawling, speaking, and hearing over 25-50% of the time.
Vision Requirements:
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus are always called upon in this job.
Safety Equipment:
- Safety eye glasses, gowns, scrubs, face shields, surgical mask/dust mask, gloves.

Pay
$37.76 - $82.96 per hour (Grade SRHRN460). Base pay is determined by skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other essential factors.
