UC Health is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for Neuroscience Acute Care at UC Medical Center. University of Cincinnati Medical Center, part of UC Health, has served Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky for nearly 200 years. The Neuroscience Acute Care unit is a Level 4 Epilepsy Center and the region's first comprehensive stroke center, providing a teaching environment and opportunities to expand academic knowledge in a medical center setting.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to provide culturally based and age-specific care to groups and individuals.
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, revise, and coordinate an interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in collaboration with healthcare team members and the patient/family.
  • Establish priorities of care based on patient assessment and needs, and communicate the plan of care to all involved associates.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients and families regarding treatment, involving them in assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to diverse patient needs, including behavioral health, psychological, and religious/cultural norms.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting unit needs.
  • Accurately and concisely document the nursing process, including treatment evaluation, in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Act as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floaters, and supplemental staff.
  • Assume responsibility for personal and professional development and contribute to the professional growth of peers and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (Associate’s Degree minimum; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
  • Current Ohio RN License.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

The Neuroscience Acute Care unit operates under a teamwork model, allowing close collaboration among all team members to provide high-acuity care. UCMC is the preferred Neuroscience institution in the region and is recognized as a Level 4 Epilepsy Center. The unit offers a teaching environment and is the region's first comprehensive stroke center.
