• Monday–Friday (rotating 10-hour shifts)

Pay

$35.50 – $53.25 per hour

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or Allied Health Technology (e.g., Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy)
• Graduate of a Cardiovascular Interventional Program or minimum of two years of experience as a Cardiovascular Specialist
• Registered with and certified by the ARRT or current license as a Registered Nurse in the applicable state
• Registry or license as it pertains to the Allied Health field of expertise
• CPR certification
• ACLS certification within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Adhere to hospital and departmental policies and procedures to promote a cooperative work environment
• Ensure readiness of emergency equipment and supplies; recognize and react appropriately to potential emergency situations
• Maintain IV fluids, stock drugs, emergency drugs, and controlled substances; audit amounts and expiration dates
• Safeguard patient and personnel privacy by protecting confidential information
• Operate all equipment needed for invasive or interventional cardiology, including IABP
• Prepare medications and check emergency equipment prior to catheterization procedures
• Perform quality control of radiographic equipment and maintain knowledge of radiation safety regulations
• Utilize Universal Protocol consistently
• Maintain accurate and current departmental records, files, and logs via electronic information systems
• Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and family members in a professional manner
• Provide 24-hour emergency call coverage for the Cardiac Cath Lab on a rotating basis
• Administer patient care as mandated by licensure, certification, or registration
• Monitor patient physiologic stability throughout procedures and administer prescribed medications under physician supervision
• Provide instruction, education, and consultation to co-workers, new employees, and trainees
• Participate in continuing education and maintain annual competencies
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and applicable state and federal regulations
• Provide age- and developmentally-appropriate patient care in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental needs

Skills & Qualifications

• Professional communication with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff
• Ability to comprehend instructions and communicate information to patients of varying age groups
• Analytical skills for problem assessment and solution related to schedules and equipment
• Working knowledge of radiographic and fluoroscopic cardiac catheterization equipment
• Understanding of HeartLab archiving equipment

Work Environment

• Moderate noise environment
• Exposure to infections, contagious diseases, and bloodborne pathogens
• Frequent exposure to radiation hazards
• Exposure to electro-mechanical hazards, odorous/toxic chemicals, and moving equipment parts
• Subject to varying and unpredictable situations, emergencies, and interruptions
• Irregular hours and occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries
• Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances
