Responsibilities
- Directs quality, compassionate care by maintaining professional nursing standards and fostering positive therapeutic relationships.
- Provides leadership by articulating and delegating expected standards of care, supervising, and encouraging team members.
- Supervises LPNs, PCAs, PCAs/US, US, Ortho Techs, and other non-licensed staff.
- Assesses patient conditions on admission and on an ongoing basis, including physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and cultural needs, pain assessment, nutritional, and functional status.
- Plans, provides, and documents patient and/or significant other education based on physical, behavioral, psychological, developmental, and age-related factors.
- Evaluates and regularly reevaluates patient care; coordinates care planning with patient, family, providers, and other disciplines.
- Assigns and delegates nursing care to team members in accordance with patient needs and team member capabilities.
- Applies safety principles when performing care and accurately documents observations, care provided, and changes in care plan.
- Participates in transition rounds, care planning/problem identification, and team shift reports.
- Assists in performance improvement activities by serving on PI teams, assisting with PI measures, and supporting/implementing changes for improvement.
- Maintains initial and annual competency per job class.
Qualifications
- Current Alabama RN license required.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider training required.
- Current AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training within the first 6 months of employment in role.
- Professional Nursing Certification preferred.
- Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
