It is the only hospital in Wisconsin with a 24/7 on‑site heart‑care team, delivering premier cardiac and stroke services recognized by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. The 48‑bed Adult Moderate Acuity Cardiovascular Surgical unit (9ST) works closely with the CVICU, providing care before and after heart surgery, heart transplant, and ventricular assist device (VAD) procedures. Orientation is completed in two phases: Phase 1 focuses on cardiac surgical patients; Phase 2 centers on the more complex needs of heart‑transplant, ultrafiltration, or VAD patients.
