Registered Nurse, (RN) Behavioral Health

About the Role

This position supports the department with a focus on clinical, operational, and administrative excellence in a behavioral health setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and plan care within set timeframes, documenting findings according to policies.
  • Oversee and supervise the shift, including delegating tasks such as groups, close observation, and meal supervision.
  • Ensure nursing policies and procedures are followed and exemplary patient care is consistently delivered by the team.
  • Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond accordingly, including notifying the physician when necessary.
  • Follow hospital policy for medication administration.
  • Interact with patients using empathy, dignity, and respect.
  • Deliver quality nursing care to ensure treatment plan goals are executed following hospital policies and demonstrated nursing competencies.
  • Assist in performing comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Current RN license as required by state regulations.
  • CPR and De-escalation certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Previous experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility preferred, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, and geriatric patients.
  • Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.
