Why is Behavioral Health important?

The Avera Behavioral Health Acute Unit is a short term inpatient unit with safety and stabilization as the primary focus for patients. During patient’s stay on the Acute unit, patients actively participate in healthy living and expressive therapies which include art, music and fitness therapy.

Student Loan Repayment

This Registered Nurse (RN) position is eligible for Avera’s Student Loan Repayment Program, which helps you pay off your loans and save money. Each month an extra payment of $167 (up to $10,000) from Avera will help pay down your principal balance faster.

Delivers Nursing Care

  • Develops a nursing diagnosis

Evaluates patient care

  • Adheres to therapeutic standards
  • Makes measurements against patient care standards
  • Reviews patient records
  • Notes changing conditions and needs
  • Re-evaluates care objectives
  • Modifies nursing care plan

Maintains safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment

  • Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols
  • Adheres to medication administration and storage procedures

Documents patient care services

  • Charts in patient and department records

Essential Qualifications

  • The individual must be able to work the hours specified.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing
  • An active license in the state of practice

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience

  • 1-3 years Experience working in a clinical environment
