About the role
VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS) is seeking full-time Registered Nurses at Weber County Correctional Facility in Ogden, Utah. Shift differentials apply for 3PM - 11PM and 11PM - 7AM shifts.
Responsibilities
- Deliver quality care consistent with the scope of practice as outlined by the local state nurse practice act for Registered Nurses.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for the quality of care delivered; work to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Act as a patient advocate to promote the quality of health care delivered in the facility and serve as a leader at all times to promote best practices within the profession of nursing.
- Work in accordance with local practice acts and regulations, delegate and ensure supervision of nursing activities and functions to other competent nursing personnel appropriate to their scope of practice.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
- Possess an active CPR certification.
- Remain knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice.
- Satisfactorily complete initial and annual clinical competencies to demonstrate aptitude as assigned by role.
Qualifications
- Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university or have graduated from an approved RN program.
- Must possess a current license in this state.
Skills
- Knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice.
- Ability to maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
- Ability to administer medications and monitor patients for reactions and side effects.
- Ability to record patients' medical information and vital signs.
- Ability to monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' condition.
- Ability to consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
- Ability to modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
- Ability to monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
- Ability to direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit.
- Ability to prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
- Ability to instruct individuals, families, or other groups on health education, disease prevention, and childbirth as well as develop health improvement programs.
- Ability to prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained.
- Ability to order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's condition.
