Registered Nurse (RN)

Direct Care & Treatment (DCT) operates a specialized behavioral health care system serving individuals with mental illness, substance abuse disorders, and developmental and intellectual disabilities. This includes psychiatric hospitals, inpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment facilities, dental clinics, group homes, vocational sites, and sex offender treatment programs.

About the role

The Community Behavioral Health Hospital (CBHH) in Alexandria is a 16-bed inpatient psychiatric facility for adults experiencing a serious mental health episode. The typical length of stay is less than 60 days, focusing on stabilization, patient education, and discharge planning with community support resources to prevent future episodes.

The Registered Nurse (RN) performs professional nursing care, including assessing and diagnosing patient needs, developing individualized nursing plans in coordination with the multidisciplinary team, providing or delegating direct nursing interventions, evaluating plan effectiveness, and participating as an active member of the interdisciplinary treatment team. The RN may also act as charge nurse when assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assess and diagnose the needs of patients.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing plans in coordination with the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide direct nursing interventions or delegate specific nursing tasks to appropriate staff.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing plan and care provided.
• Participate as an active member of the CBHH interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Act as charge nurse when assigned.
• Transport clients according to their treatment plans as needed (less than 5% travel required).

Requirements

• Be licensed or eligible for licensure in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse.
• Future RNs within six months of graduating and taking their NCLEX-RN are encouraged to apply; contingent job offers may be made upon successful completion of degree and passing of NCLEX-RN.
• Provide documentation of being free from tuberculosis (TB) through a blood test prior to employment (TB skin testing not accepted).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Minnesota.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Patient care experience within a mental health or behavioral health setting.

Pay

$40.59 - $60.06 per hour; $84,751 - $125,405 annually.

Applicants may be eligible for a hiring incentive of up to $10,000.

Schedule

• Full-time, unlimited position.
• Rotating shifts: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM or 12:00 PM – 10:30 PM.
• Days of work vary; may include weekends and holidays.
