About the Role

The Level II Competent Registered Nurse is accountable for providing comprehensive, continuous, and patient-centered care for an assigned group of patients. This role involves delivering patient care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to achieve desired outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate nursing care, including oversight of licensed and unlicensed personnel.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams in care planning, teaching, and discharge planning.
• Communicate and coordinate the plan of care with other healthcare team members.
• Assist leadership in defining standards of excellence for patient care and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Contribute to performance improvement initiatives and integrate them into care delivery.
• Participate in the orientation of new staff members.
• Serve as a resource on hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Engage in daily operational activities to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Provide input to the Nurse Manager regarding unit needs.
• Participate in unit, departmental, and hospital committees for policy and procedure development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Valid RN License from Virginia or a reciprocal compact state.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR certification required at hire.
• NIHSS (Bluecloud) certification required within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

ASN

• BSN preferred.

BSN

• BSN required.

External Temporary RN Program

• If BLS, ACLS, PALS, or NRP is required, it must be obtained at hire.
• If CPI, ONS, or NIHSS is required, it must be obtained within 30 days.
• If TNCC or ENPC is required, it must be obtained within 30 days or by the next available course.

Physical Requirements

• Constant (67-100% of workday): Walking, standing, use of arms and hands.
• Frequent (34-66% of workday): Bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting.
• Ability to lift 35 lbs. and push/pull 20 lbs.
• Auditory and visual skills, including color determination.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and reach overhead.

Mental Requirements

• Critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Ability to multi-task and communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
• Capacity to cope with difficult situations and tolerate irregular hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends.

Environmental Requirements

• Potential exposure to radiation, toxic chemicals, and bloodborne pathogens (appropriate PPE required).
• Clinical positions in Mary Washington Home Health and/or Hospice require meeting driving requirements.

Pay

• ASN: $40.59 - $51.65 per hour.
• BSN: $42.32 - $53.86 per hour.
