Responsibilities
- Provides direct nursing care to residents and supervises nursing assistants.
- Administers medications and completes required documentation.
- Fosters a warm and collaborative environment.
- Carefully coordinates with physicians and ensures safety protocols are followed.
- Maintains effective communication with residents, families, and staff.
- Performs professional nursing services such as catheterization, wound care, and IV care.
- Assists in all aspects of a resident’s daily life, including activities of daily living, meal service, and social engagement.
- Communicates with clinical leadership when a resident’s needs change.
- Approaches and cares for residents with dementia.
- Takes on other duties and assignments within the scope of knowledge and experience.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a current unencumbered state license.
- Knowledgeable of nursing & medical practices & procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to nursing care facilities.
- Experience in Long Term Care is preferred.
- Willingness to take additional training or education, which may be required by specific states.
- CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
- Able to be flexible and adaptable while handling multiple priorities.
- Competent in organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrates good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Physical Demands
- Sit, stand, bend, and walk intermittently throughout the workday.
- Lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Cope with the mental & emotional stress of the position.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Visual and auditory ability sufficient for written and verbal communication.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
