Registered Nurse (RN), Ambulatory Surgery Center Pre Post PACU, Part-Time (Day Shift)

Schedule

Part-Time, Day Shift, 24 hours/week. Three 8-hour day shifts. Wednesday–Friday, rotating. 0600–1430, 0700–1530, 0800–1630, 0900–1730. Varying Saturday call.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility and accountability as defined by the American Nurses Association standards of nursing practice.
• Practice as a full partner on the health care team and consistently demonstrate safe practice within the organizational professional practice model.
• Independently provide patient care through the application of the nursing process and accept accountability for the nursing care of assigned patients (age range: infancy to elderly).
• Demonstrate competency in Continuous Quality Improvement, Evidence Based Practice and Research, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Technology Informatics, and Teamwork.
• Work closely with the interprofessional health care team to facilitate the coordination of care across the continuum.
• Perform patient assessments focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive functions; evaluate progress toward outcomes and adapt the plan of care based on recognized trends and changes.
• Collect and manage comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation; analyze assessment data to determine diagnosis or issues; formulate age-appropriate and culturally and ethically sensitive plan of care.
• Implement care in a knowledgeable manner and coordinate patient care across several disciplines and among caregivers.
• Provide leadership to other members of the team by effectively communicating expected standards of care and encouraging and supporting team members and their contributions.
• Assign, delegate, and supervise other employees and intervene as appropriate to assure that the plan of care is carried out, continuity of care is provided, and established outcomes are achieved.
• Educate patients about healthy practices and treatment modalities.
• Systematically enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices; utilize technology where appropriate.
• Manage rapidly changing situations following established protocols, coordinating and accessing appropriate health team members and resources, and documenting events.
• Participate in process improvement activities with an emphasis on increasing continuity in the nurse-to-patient relationship, minimizing rework and redundancies.
• Maintain a safe working environment through compliance with established evidence-based practice policies and procedures and timely reporting of safety variances.
• Seek experiences and formal and independent learning activities to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and knowledge.
• Provide supervision, including guidance, counseling and mentoring, to targeted peers and subordinates.
• Participate in the employee performance process related to peers and subordinate team members; address employee problems, complaints, disputes or requests as the first level of supervision.
• Participate in on-call responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• RN licensure issued by the PA Board of Nursing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher level nursing degree.
• Completion of the Nurse Residency Program or more than 15 months of practice.
• CPR Certification – American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA Heart Saver courses for CPR are not accepted) required within 30 days of hire.
• Be a health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs (i.e., not excluded from participation).

Credentials

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
• Registered Nurse – PA (Required)
• Labor & Delivery RN’s are required to obtain their RNC-OB or C-EFM within 3 years of hire into the position.
• Lactation Support RNs are required to obtain their IBCLC Certification within 2 years of hire into the position.
