Registered Nurse (RN) - Adult Urgent Care - PRN

About the Role

The ambulatory care services (ACS) registered nurse (RN) provides patient care and education in an outpatient setting to diverse patients, families, and community members throughout the lifespan. The professional RN adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of professional nursing and performance, and the ANA Code of Ethics to provide care to all healthcare consumers. Applies critical thinking, evidence-based practices, and competence to collaborate with the healthcare team to promote excellence in healthcare consumer safety and quality outcomes. Utilizes the Theory of Human Caring and Caritas in daily practice.

Responsibilities

• Implement evidence-based plan with patient in coordination with healthcare team.
• Develop, modify patient care and treatment plans as indicated by patient’s responses and conditions.
• Provide safe, appropriate nursing care and patient education in an ambulatory clinic setting, including but not limited to newborn visits, foot care, wound care, obstetric care, diabetes education, and preoperative teaching.
• Safely administer medications and treatments as ordered, according to policy. (20%)
• Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient situation through face-to-face, video, or telephone encounters. Communicate findings to patient and appropriate healthcare team members. (15%)
• Partner with patient and interprofessional healthcare team to review assessment and plan measurable goals, outcomes, and strategies for achievement. Advocate for patients and family in accordance with ANA code ethics and professional practice standards. (15%)
• Support interdisciplinary healthcare team through supervision, education, and training of clinic team members, including medical assistants, educators, and care navigators. Coordinate services and care activities within the clinic setting and the community. (15%)
• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records. (10%)
• Prepare patients for, and assist with, examinations and treatments. (10%)
• Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnosis. (5%)
• Direct and supervise less skilled nursing/health care personnel. (5%)
• Promote positive patient experience. (5%)

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
• 1-3 years of experience in a direct patient care setting
• BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA (American Heart Association) (Required)
• RN-Registered Nurse - DORA (Department of Regulatory Agencies) (Required)

Skills

• Adherence to Standards of Professional Nursing Practice/Process/Performance and accrediting body standards.
• Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span, including cultural competency.
• Completion of clinical competency standards.
• Ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
• Skilled in maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; EPIC documentation preferred.

Pay

$35.55 - $55.09 per hour
