Registered Nurse / RN - Adolescent Psych, Full time, D/E

The Center for Inpatient Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, located in Somerville, provides a transformative continuum of patient and family-centered care for diverse youth with acute behavioral health needs. This opening is for a Registered Nurse to cover two units at Somerville Hospital: 5 East Neurodevelopment and 5 West Adolescent Psychiatry.

About the role

This position involves working on assessment, stabilization, and after-care treatment planning for adolescents aged 12 to 17 on the 5 West Adolescent Unit, which is a secured 12-bed psychiatric unit. The unit focuses on teaching self-control, de-escalation, and restraint reduction through a patient and family-centered care approach. Additionally, the 5 East Neurodevelopment Unit cares for children and adolescents with severe mental health and neurodevelopmental needs in a newly renovated 8-bed secure unit.

Responsibilities

• Assess and stabilize patients in accordance with established protocols
• Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care
• Provide direct patient care, including medication management and crisis intervention
• Document patient progress and communicate effectively with families and other healthcare providers
• Participate in ongoing education and training related to adolescent psychiatry and neurodevelopmental care

Requirements

• Current Massachusetts RN license
• American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Minimum BSN or ASN degree
• 1-2 years acute inpatient psychiatric experience preferred

• Experience with trauma-informed care and patient-centered approaches

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations. The final offer may vary within this range.

Schedule

The work schedule includes 7am-3:30pm; 3pm-11:30pm shifts, with an 8 or 12-hour shift length, and rotating weekends and holidays.
