About the role

This position requires a thorough understanding of the facility’s treatment program and philosophy, admission process and criteria, support and administrative services, and medical knowledge of alcoholism, drug abuse, and dual diagnosis. As a member of the treatment team, you will provide professional-level nursing care to patients with minimal supervision, directing and guiding unit activities and assignments for ancillary personnel.

Responsibilities

• Call the appropriate team member (e.g., Medical Director) for non-life-threatening medical and medication issues to obtain guidance; contact emergency services for life-threatening situations.
• Identify client care requirements by establishing rapport with clients and others to understand their needs.
• Create a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to clients and families.
• Promote client independence by setting care goals, educating clients about their condition, medications, and self-care, and answering questions.
• Ensure quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes, and making or recommending adjustments as needed.
• Resolve client problems using multidisciplinary team strategies.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Protect clients and employees by following infection-control policies, medication administration/storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
• Document patient care services in client and department records.
• Maintain continuity among teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs.
• Protect client confidentiality and operational integrity.
• Maintain nursing supplies inventory by checking stock levels and ordering supplies as needed.
• Stay current with professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops and reviewing publications.
• Foster cooperative relationships among the healthcare team by communicating effectively and participating in problem-solving.
• Follow incident reporting policies for potential safety issues.
• Demonstrate delegation, organization, and coordination skills for assigned services.
• Serve as a role model for nursing staff and model effective conflict resolution.
• Contribute to performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and follow-up on staff issues.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and healthcare team members.
• Communicate staff performance levels to the Director of Nursing and prioritize collaborative interventions.
• Exercise judgment in deviating from policy when strict adherence poses risks to patients, visitors, or staff.
• Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to maintain adequate staffing levels within budgetary guidelines.
• Provide clinical direction to staff and evaluate the quality of care on assigned shifts.
• Hold staff accountable for safe practices, including patient lifts and mobilization.
• Coordinate care, unit operations, scheduling, patient flow, resource allocation, and supply management.
• Participate in performance improvement data collection, analysis, reporting, and staff education.
• Assist in training new staff and coordinating care plans with doctors and other nurses.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Current RN License in the state of operations.
• CPR and First Aid Certified.
• Knowledge of addiction and drug treatment preferred.
• Awareness of patient safety issues and application of safety principles.
• Ability to read, interpret, and write clearly; strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Working knowledge of Google Workspace (GMail, Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.).
• Ability to lift 15 pounds and sit for prolonged periods.
