About the role
The Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) and Simulation Training Coordinator will be responsible for managing the nursing process when providing and/or supervising staff education. The role demands a fundamental understanding of adult learning principles and the capacity to adapt or change learning strategies based on assessed needs. The coordinator will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate educational needs to facilitate learner development and skill training of clinical staff.
Responsibilities
- Lead with creativity and experience in managing complex situations.
- Deliver expert, evidence-based education to clinical and outpatient staff.
- Develop, promote, and deliver professional simulation education.
- Cookordinate training in accordance with the SimLEARN Certification Program.
- Coordinate, plan, and implement innovative technologies to create safe learning environments.
- Evaluate current practices and formulate outcomes for patient groups and organizational processes based on evidence-based research.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify and address educational training needs, fostering competence, critical thinking, and decision-making among staff.
- Participate in organizational committees to support educational programs and initiatives.
- Analyze data to determine outcomes and document changes related to educational programs, maintain accurate records of training activities, staff compliance, and report updates.
Requirements
- Basic Requirements: English Language Proficiency, Graduate of a school of professional nursing, Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse.
- Preferred Experience: MSN preferred, AHA Instructor certification preferred, 2-3 years coordinating simulation-based training, Experience managing competency-based clinical training programs, Experience developing clinical scenarios and operating high-fidelity manikins, Strong customer service skills, Ability to coordinate multi-department training programs, Skilled in curriculum development and scenario design, Strong interpersonal communication skills, Experience with training staff in clinical competencies and emergency response, Experience mentoring and supporting staff in resuscitation and simulation.
Qualifications
- Nurse I, Level I: An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional professional nursing required.
- Nurse I, Level II: An ADN or Diploma in Nursing AND 1 year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse I, Level 1 ;OR a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional professional nursing experience required.
- Nurse I, Level III: An ADN or Diploma in Nursing AND 2 years of professional nursing experience in which one year is equivalent to Nurse I, Level 2; OR a BSN and 1 year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the Nurse I, Level 2; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) and no additional professional nursing experience; OR a Master's degree in a *related field with a BSN and no additional professional nursing experience.
- Nurse II: A BSN with 2 years of professional nursing equivalent to Nurse I, Level 3; OR an MSN with one year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse I, Level 3; OR a Master's degree in a *related field with a BSN and one year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse I, Level 3; OR a Doctoral degree in Nursing with no professional nursing experience; OR a Doctoral degree in a *related field with a BSN with no additional professional nursing experience.
- Nurse III: An MSN and 2 years of specialized nursing experience, one of which is equivalent to Nurse II and meets all dimension requirements for Nurse III; OR a Master's degree in *related field with BSN and two years of specialized nursing experience, one of which is equivalent to Nurse II and meets all dimension requirements for Nurse III; OR a Doctoral degree in Nursing with and one year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse II and meets all dimension requirements for Nurse III; OR a Doctoral degree in a *related field with a BSN and one year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse II and meets all dimension requirements for Nurse III.

- Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
