About the role
Banner Health’s New Nurse Experience (NNE) is a full-time Registered Nurse position designed to help new graduates transition into fully competent, professional nurses. The program provides a collaborative learning environment where you can refine your nursing skills, enhance your knowledge, and develop professional relationships. Successful candidates will be placed in specific units at Banner Health facilities and will be clinically mentored by unit staff and educators. Multiple career pathways and development opportunities are offered to support long-term career goals. New Grads are expected to remain on their NNE unit for at least 12 months to complete comprehensive training.

Requirements to Apply
- Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted at select locations
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI) or ability to obtain before start date
- No more than 12 months of RN experience
- Previous healthcare experience preferred

Unit Overview
As a Resource Team RN at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, AZ, you will support the clinical needs of multiple units throughout the hospital, including Progressive Care, Med/Surg, and Outpatient Observation. This role is part of Clinical Care Operations, which manages bed assignment, unit staffing, house supervision, emergency preparedness, and patient transports.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care in accordance with organizational policies and professional standards
- Account for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under your direction
- Utilize specialized knowledge and judgment to assess data and plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to patients’ physical and developmental needs
- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs
- Review patient history and physicals, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and caregivers
- Formulate and revise patient-centered care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Implement care plans through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team
- Delegate appropriately and provide nursing supervision to licensed and non-licensed staff
- Promote continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers
- Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching; revise plans as needed
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses legibly and in accordance with policy
- Participate in unit or facility shared leadership and contribute to the education and orientation of staff, patients, students, and families
- Promote growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate
- Contribute to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care
- Actively participate in improving national nursing quality indicators and outcomes
- Interact with staff at all levels, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts regarding patient care
- Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support the human response of patients and families to changes in health status
Minimum Qualifications
- Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure
- BLS certification required
- Ability to relate throughout the interview process the experience, training, and education needed to perform the job
- Experience in the clinical area of application is desired
- Maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of practice as demonstrated through annual validations
Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area. Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions require a minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse in a physician practice or an acute care setting.
Employees working in behavioral health clinical settings serving children or in Home Health must possess and maintain appropriate state fingerprint clearance cards and valid driver’s licenses with active auto insurance coverage.
