Responsibilities
- Perform initial and ongoing patient/family assessments and document per guidelines.
- Develop, implement, and update individualized plans of care based on patient needs and expected outcomes.
- Provide safe, ethical, patient-centered care while supporting dignity, diversity, and autonomy.
- Prioritize care based on patient condition and unit needs.
- Safely administer medications and treatments; perform technical skills per policy.
- Recognize and respond to emergencies, initiating appropriate interventions.
- Evaluate patient responses to care and revise plans in collaboration with the care team.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Supervise delegated tasks and ensure quality care delivery.
- Participate in organizational activities such as committees, staff meetings, and unit initiatives.
- Support student learning and staff development; serve in leadership roles as needed.
- Maintain professional competence through continuing education and self-assessment.
- Build collaborative, collegial relationships across the healthcare team.
- Identify and act on opportunities for process improvement.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing. BSN required within five years of hire.
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) ACLS/PALS may be required but is dependent on unit or department.
- Registered Nurse licensure required.
- Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs at various stages of the life cycle.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of specialty/critical care RN experience, such as ICU, ED or Interventional Radiology.
- Must live within a 30 minute radius of Good Samaritan Hospital for call requirements.
