Registered Nurse - Radiation Therapy
About the role
The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The Registered Nurse is responsible to oversee any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and provides for its consistency with the medical treatment plan.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification.
- Initiate culturally competent continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient and community settings.
- Oversee any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care.
- Provide for its consistency with the medical treatment plan.
- Implement specific interventions or orders that are consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions in achieving the plan of care and determine the conclusions concerning the achievement or lack of achievement of desired outcomes.
- Document required actions based upon findings identified during assessment and reassessment.
- Perform limited laboratory services such as patient identification and preparation for specimen collection, processing samples for testing, performing required quality control testing and instrument maintenance and function checks, monitoring, recording and reporting tests results to clinicians to include critical values, and maintaining competency/certification of the aforementioned tasks and duties.
- Support performance improvement initiatives and provide leadership to other members of the patient care team.
- Participate in educational activities to assume responsibility for continued professional and personal growth.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- Nurses hired without BSN must be enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year and completion within 3 years.
- Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or current multi state license required.
- BLS required.
- Valid NJ Driver's License is required for all employees in the Adult and Child Partial Programs.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

- Licensed and registered care providers responsible for utilizing the care process relative to their scope of practice and knowledge base.
- Phlebotomy.
- EKG.
- IV insertion.
- Absolute Care Certification (ATCN).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN).
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Certified (CCRN).
- Endoscopy Certified (CCRN, CCRN-CV).
- Interventional Radiology Certified (CCRN, CCRN-CV).
- Electrophysiology (EP) Certified (CCRN, CCRN-CV).
- Radiation Oncology Certified (CCRN, CCRN-CV).
- Oncology Certified (CCRN, CCRN-CV).
