Registered Nurse - Pulmonary Care - Full Time - Third Shift
About the Role
The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing job skills to effectively carry out the nursing process: including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. They are responsible for quality communication, teamwork, and leadership/professionalism. The role involves directing, coordinating, and implementing patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
A Registered Nurse II (RN II) is responsible for the care of the assigned population and must complete yearly mandatory competencies, unit-specific competencies, and Professional Practice Ladder requirements. These include assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, participating in PI Activity and department initiatives, and communicating information from unit or hospital committees, education/seminars, or nursing articles. The RN II must maintain a current portfolio submitted annually by March 1st, routinely solicit and validate patient/family satisfaction, participate in peer review, and develop educational materials for staff, patients, and family members.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, and documentation.
- Direct, coordinate, and implement patient teaching and quality/safety initiatives.
- Lead and manage activities of other health team personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.
- Assume responsibility as Charge Nurse and participate in performance improvement (PI) activities and department initiatives.
- Communicate and share information from unit or hospital committees, education/seminars, or nursing articles.
- Maintain a current portfolio submitted annually by March 1st.
- Routinely solicit and validate patient/family satisfaction and participate in peer review.
- Develop bulletin boards or posters providing educational information to staff, patients, and family members.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Nursing (RN Diploma, ASN, or ADN) is required; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- Minimum of 1872 full-time or part-time hours (936 if holding a BSN) of RN experience and completion of a performance evaluation.
- RN license required, with eligibility to practice in Virginia and/or West Virginia (multistate license under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) or a single-state license valid in the applicable state).
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association (AHA) ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) approved; must be obtained prior to completion of orientation.
- Relevant specialty certification is preferred.
- Competent to provide care based on cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological stages of human growth and development using the nursing process.
- Must have a reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.

Pay Range: $34.00 - $48.87 per hour.
