Essential Functions And Basic Duties

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Maintains monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition as appropriate.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Identifies barriers to effective communication based on psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural considerations.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary staff, may precept student nurses and new hires.
  • Employs critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Works in a fast-paced environment, and takes appropriate action.

  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Upholds regulatory requirements to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state and federal regulations and policies.
  • Follows all policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, public and staff.
  • Completes annual education, training, in-service, and licensure/certification requirements; attends departmental and organizational staff meetings or reads meeting minutes.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated timeframes.
  • Establishes and maintains effective verbal and written communication and good working relationships with all patients, staff and vendors.
  • Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated; manages activity and time.
  • Participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions).
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete employee health meeting.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Unencumbered RN License – Colorado or Compact State required.
  • Current Certification BLS- required.
  • ACLS – required within 1 year.
  • PALS or ENPC – required within 1 year.
  • Med/Surg experience preferred.
